An Analytical Framework for Formulating Conservation and Development Measures for Important Agricultural Heritage Systems

Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (IAHS) are complex adaptive systems that multidimensional and exhibit strategic values of sustainability. In the context modernization, IAHS have been increasingly challenged. Thus, heritage sites must explore dynamic conservation approaches formulate management strategies. However, few studies provided either theoretical methods or practical cases as support. this study, we put forward an analytical framework for development measure formulation based on Driver –Pressure–State–Impact–Response (DPSIR) model applied it to Shexian Dryland Stone Terraced System (SDSTS). With framework, analyzed supportive mechanisms stable state SDSTS, diagnosed threats challenges faces, then formulated 34 measures from six aspects, namely mechanism construction, ecological conservation, cultural inheritance, green organic product development, sustainable tourism capacity building. It is demonstrated DPSIR-based can provide both technical support measures, thus having potential become a general tool IAHS.
